Friends, welcome to National Poetry Month. Here we go again, writing a poem every day! My good friend Thomas Alan Holmes is not able to join me with NaPoWriMo poems on the blog this time, alas Okay, here we go. Maureen Thorson’s NaPoWriMo prompt: "Today, we challenge you to write a poem that is based on a secret shame, or a secret pleasure. It could be eating too many cookies, or bad movies, or the time you told your sister she could totally brush her teeth with soap. It’s up to you." Robert Lee Brewer’s Poem-a-Day prompt: "For today’s prompt, write a secret poem. This poem can reveal a secret, incorporate a secret activity, or involve any other secret interpretation. Poem written in code (acrostic, anyone?) or with double meanings." Here's my first installment for the month. As you may know, I try to merge both prompts in my daily poem. Luckily, today the two prompts were very close! Secret Tanka Yeah, I know. 5-7-5-7-7. Apologies to my tanka and haiku writer friends who don't feel that that syllabic pattern is at all necessary or even recommended! Friends, won’t you comment, please? Love to know what you’re thinking. To comment, look for a red line below that starts Posted by, then click once on the word comments in that line. If you don’t find the word “comments” in that line, then look for a blue link below that says Post a comment and click it once. Thanks! Ingat, everyone. ヅ |

I love this. It's honest, funny, and rhythmic. It's a poem that has the ring of truth. Besides, I'm waiting on a couple QVC orders right now! Admire your commitment to a poem a day and am looking forward to more.
Yes I too like it. I love haikus. Good Luck with the Poem a Day!
Thanks, Mary! And thanks, Kenny.
