Maureen Thorson’s NaPoWriMo prompt today is a short one: "we challenge you today to write a poem in which something big and something small come together." Robert Lee Brewer’s Poem-a-Day prompt: "For today’s prompt, take the phrase 'Battle (blank);' replace the blank with a word or phrase; make the new phrase the title of your poem; and then, write your poem. Possible titles include: 'Battle Tested,' 'Battle of the Sexes,' 'Battle of the Bands,' and 'Battle of the Bulge.' Battle Already Lost: Goliath Trash-Talks I’m a giant among giants. Who among you can even lift my sword, full four cubits long, taller than the tallest among you little men? I brandish this blade above my head, I cut and shred the very clouds. The bronze melted into my sword is heavier than three of you. My shield is made from the hides of twenty bulls and it could be a boat for six of you! My small sword is longer than your forearm and still has its foreskin. Why cut yours off? Speaking of small, what is this trifling runt you send against me? This miniature cockroach, this buzzing fly, this little bumblebee, spinning a leather strap behind his head?
