Day 11 ... NaPoWriMo / Poem-a-Day 2018

Maureen Thorson’s NaPoWriMo prompt: write a "a poem that addresses the future, answering the questions 'What does y(our) future provide? What is your future state of mind? If you are a citizen of the "union" that is your body, what is your future "state of the union" address?'" Robert Lee Brewer’s Poem-a-Day prompt: "write a warning poem. Warnings can be found everywhere: on the labels of medicine, in the speeches of leaders, and in the advice of parents. Even stories and poems have been known to harbor warnings." Today's poem — a meld as usual of the two prompts — is not about my own future but rather a warning in the lives of the aswang couple in my in-progress novella-in-poems. This poem happens right after the scene in my Day 8 poem, in which Clara discovers that their infant son is also an aswang. Thank you!       This art piece of an aswang — a manananggal like Clara — holding a baby probably shows the monster stealing a baby, shown by the distress in the hands in the foreground, maybe the baby's mother's hands. Nonetheless, I thought it could adequately portray the quandary that Clara and her husband Santiago (not yet on the scene in these two poems) find themselves in with their son Malcolm. I found this image out on the nets, in Pinterest actually, pinned without an attribution of artist. If you are the artist or if you know the artist, would you please leave a comment below?
