Robert Lee Brewer’s Poem-a-Day prompt: “[W]rite an abundance poem. There can be an abundance of things, both good and bad. An abundance of sunshine, money, and chocolate. Or an abundance of rain, debt, and liverwurst. Today, I hope there will be an abundance of poeming!” Maureen Thorson’s NaPoWriMo prompt: “[W]rite a poem that argues against, or somehow questions, a proverb or saying. They say that 'all cats are black at midnight,' but really? Surely some of them remain striped.” Here's a little haiku — or, more properly, a senryu — merging both prompts. when it rains, it pours: Friends, won’t you comment, please? Love to know what you’re thinking. Thanks! Ingat, everyone. ヅ |

Great to see this here. The older I get, the harder the haiku....
Great senryu!
A. Quinlan, thanks for your comment. I hope you are continuing to write haiku, though.
Thanks, Bruce. It was lucky that the prompts came together this way for me! It was actually raining while I was writing so that might have affected the poem.
