Robert Lee Brewer’s Poem-a-Day prompt: “[W]rite a forgive poem. The poem could be about forgiveness in general, or it could focus on a specific instance of forgiveness or grace. There are times when we are called upon to forgive others, and times when we ask others to forgive us. And sometimes that includes forgiving ourselves. Be forgiving as you poem today.” Maureen Thorson’s NaPoWriMo prompt: “[T]ry writing a short poem (or a few, if you’re inspired) that follows the beats of a classic joke. Emphasize the interplay between the form of the poem – such as the line breaks – and the punchline.” The only old joke I could think of was Rodney Dangerfield's "take my wife, please" but that's not de rigueur any longer and has nothing to with forgiveness. So I did a a little online searching I Guess I'll Go to the Other Place https://mymodernmet.com/dalmatian-with-heart-eyes/ Again, Alan also melds the two prompts. To the Person Who Stole My Mountain Bike off Our Friends, won’t you comment, please? Love to know what you’re thinking. Thanks! Ingat, everyone. ヅ |

Someone really did steal my mountain bike. I had had it for almost thirty years, and I had recently gotten it all tuned up with new tires and everything. And then the police chastised me for not having a photograph of it.
It’s funny that we both used “forgive and forget” in our poem today. And I almost used a joke about confession: A guy lit a votive candle in his church, but he held the match too close to his face and burned part of his beard. He went straight to confession and said, “Bless me, Father, for I have singed.”
