The seventh day . . . the day of rest, and it happens to be a Sunday today too! Maureen Thorson’s NaPoWriMo prompt: “Today, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem titled ‘Wish You Were Here’ that takes its inspiration from the idea of a postcard. Consistent with the abbreviated format of a postcard, your poem should be short, and should play with the idea of travel, distance, or sightseeing.” Robert Lee Brewer’s Poem-a-Day suggestion: “For today's prompt, write a luck poem.” Merging both prompts again, with a tanka, using the traditional 5-7-5-7-7 syllable pattern. This text would fit perfectly on a postcard, like the one pictured below that I found online. Good luck! As I mention on my blog, the "postcard" prompt is a familiar one to me, as it was a favorite of an annual writer's conference I attended several times. It also previously produced what is probably one of my best poems (also on the blog.)
Thanks, Bruce. I appreciate your "good luck"!
